Our story
Coldwater River is our family's office.
It's our own family's holding company, run as a working family office. It's our proof of concept: the system we bring to your family is the one we're building in ours.

From Aaron
I’m sitting at my desk in the farm office. My mom and my brothers are on the other side. My cousins are there too as my business partners. The attorney is in the room. That alone should tell you where things were.
I had become the fixer. The bridge. The one who took responsibility for keeping things from falling apart. That identity didn’t feel dangerous. It felt noble. Necessary. Even selfless. And that’s exactly why it went unchallenged.
For years the title of founder owned me. I was an employee in my own company. Around 40, I started building life on my own terms, around the things that matter most to me: family, health, experience, significance, and wealth as the multiplier for the rest.
I grew up in my family's farm business, built over generations, and I helped grow it too. Leaving it put years of silence between my family and me. Today we talk again. Now Josh and I are building something new for our kids, on purpose.

What we believe
Family conflict is a design problem, not a moral one.
No villains
We stop asking “Why did they do that?” and start asking “What pressure were they responding to?”
Every voice first
Until people feel understood, no plan feels fair. We hear everyone before anything gets decided.
Structure sets people free
Designed well, what you've built becomes a launchpad for the next generation, not a trap.
